Thrilled

By Louis Shanks(Owner), Dec. 7, 2012

This is my fourth CVO bike from HD. I have owned a 2000 CVO Road Glide, The 2003 CVO Road King (anniversary) and the 2004 CVO Electra Glide (pre Street Glide). I purchased the 2013 CVO Road King and this one has the 110 Cu in motor, the largest motor to date. There are several items on this bike ... that are new and really appealed to me. The first being the color- Burgandy Blaze with hot fusion. HD is known for their paint and this one is no exception. The pop up gas cap is a nice custom touch as well as the illuminated gas gage in the other tank cap that appears to be a flush mount cap as well until you turn the ignition on and a digital glow appears in the chrome. The backlighting for the tank mounted speedo and tach are programable to different colors. And the big news selling this bagger is it is the first Road King with music. An included Ipod supplies the tunes to four speakers (2 in the saddlebag lids and 2 in the front lowers) and the sound is fantastic. The 19 inch front and 18 inch rear tires are low profile and look mean and gives the bike a nice stance. One thing I really noted was the adjustable rear shocks on this bike, it is performance as well as comfort with these new shocks. My 2009 Street Glide really suffered in this department and a huge improvement to the bikes handling and comfort was gained with these easy to adjust shocks. You simply twist a knob to adjust the load. Of course the bike comes chromed out and the newly designed windshield keeps the wind off the rider and has an adjustable wane to vary the amount of wind on the rider. The bike has a lot of torque and it feels like it will pull tree stumps. I haven't got it on a dyno yet to check the horsepower, but I did add Vance and Hines mufflers for a throaty sound and more breathing. I did notice that the motor runs warm, probably due to the catalitic converter now required on the bikes. I did motor work to my 2004 and got that 103 cu in motor to pumpout 112 horsepower and I am confident this 110 will be able to do the same with some motor work. All in all, although an expensive bike, it is a real head turner, and the new upgrades as well as the chrome and paint make it worth while. I think the shifter is more quiet than my last harley, and the controls are easy to use. The bike has anti-lock brakes on it and I haven't done any hard braking yet, so under normal conditions I don't see any difference. I have only 270 miles on her at this time, the northwest weather turned almost as soon as I got it, but hopefully as the weather becomes more favorable I will log some serious miles on her and see what she really has to offer. Ride Safe! Read Full Review
